Palouse Rideshare is an on-line carpool matching program. This is a free service provided by the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute (PCEI).

The purpose of this program is to provide commuters with an on-line resource for developing carpooling opportunities within the Palouse region.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, carpooling is an effective way to reduce congestion and improve air quality. The Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program was founded in 1988 in an effort to promote and help fund alternative transportation options, including carpool and rideshare programs A primary goal of CMAQ is congestion mitigation. Congestion relief can contribute to improvements in air quality by reducing travel delays, engine idle time and unproductive fuel consumption. Carpooling is one way to decrease emissions and congestions by reducing the number of vehicles on the road. Click here to learn more about CMAQ:

Carpooling can also help commuters to save time and money. A decrease in the number of vehicles on the road, means decreased time spent sitting in traffic and looking for parking spaces. Carpoolers can save money by sharing driving responsibilities and fuel costs. Carpooling is also a great way to meet new people!
